 2023 CMG Petrel Plugin Release – (2023.21)

This release is the official 2023.21 CMG Petrel Plugin Release. It contains many new features and bug fixes. The release contains the following products:

* CMG Petrel Plugin

* CMG DataImporter

* CMG Launcher – optional

* CMG IMEX  – optional

 Installation Requirements

The 2023.21 CMG Petrel Plugin Release has the following minimum installation requirements:

– Microsoft .NET 4.8 Framework

The installer for these requirements can be found in the “Extras” folder.

The changes included in this release are summarized below. For more detailed information, please refer to the appropriate manual and/or readme document(s) for the associated products. To view this document, install this release first, then go to “{Installation Folder}SchlumbergerPetrel {year}Extensions Computer Modelling Group Ltd.”.

For example, “C:Program FilesSchlumbergerPetrel 2022ExtensionsComputer Modelling Group Ltd. CMG Petrel Plugin Manual 2023.21.pdf”.

– Key CMG Petrel Plugin 2023.21 features and fixes:

  • License Requirements
    • A license is no longer required to install and use the CMG Petrel Plugin
    • A valid IMEX license is still required if simulation cases are run using the plugin
  • Installation
    • Bug Fix: The CMG Petrel Plugin would not function on Petrel versions 2020.1 – 2021.4
  • Export
    • Bug Fix: Certain custom units set in the “Project settings” in Petrel would lead to erroneous grid and well coordinates in the exported CMG *.dat file
  • Import
    • Bug Fix: In certain situations,imported well trajectories were not translated properly causing mis-alignment with the imported grid

KNOWN ISSUE WHEN INSTALLING WITH MCAFEE VIRUS SCAN ENTERPRISE

 Some versions of McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise have issues and can cause computers to hang, particularly during software installs. These versions now come with patches or hotfixes. If you are unable to install the CMG software, it is highly recommended to update patches and hotfixes along with the latest versions of McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise and McAfee Agent.

 

 KNOWN ISSUE WITH SILENT INSTALLATIONS

 If you have previously installed the CMG software in a location other than the default (C:Program Files (x86)CMG or C:Program FilesCMG), you will need to use the command line parameter INSTALLDIR to specify where you would like the CMG Security to be installed. If you do not specify the location using INSTALLDIR, the software will be installed to the default location.
