During flowback, the closure of the fracture may exhibit with <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">the pressure drop of fracturing fluid dewatering. However, fracture closure always is <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ignored or treated as stress-dependent fracture properties in previous flowback mode<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ls. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"textLayer\"><span dir=\"ltr\">This paper presented a dynamic fracture model, which can comprehensively cap<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">ture the dynamic behavior of hydraulic fractures during the flowback. A nonlinear <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">relationship between fracture aperture and contact stress acting on the fracture sur<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">faces is adopted to simulate fracture closure. The fracture aperture calculated by the <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">displacement discontinuity method (DDM) is used to characterize the fracture pore <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">volume and fracture conductivity, which will be dynamically updated in the flow <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">model. Then, the pressure and saturation of each phase, along with the displacement <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">on the fracture surface, are calculated by solving flow equations and geomechanics <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">equations with iterative coupling approach. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"textLayer\"><span dir=\"ltr\">The new semi-analytical model is vali<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">dated by comparing it with a fully coupled stress-porosity pressure numerical simula<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">tion model setup by ABAQUS<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">\u00ae<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\"> and CMG. Then, the dynamic behaviors of hydraulic <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">fractures are investigated in detail by several cases. Results show that fracture clo<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">sure is an important reason for the decline in production during the flowback and <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">early production. And it is more important to enhance the properties of the stimulated <\/span><span dir=\"ltr\">reservoir volume (SRV) than to only create a fracture with high conductivity.
